FVD Converter offers to convert between various video formats and extract audio from video. You may argue that there are many media converters around. Some of them are characterized by supporting many formats, some by their specificity and others by their simplicity. In terms of supported formats, FVD Converter is rather comprehensive, as it allows converting some of the most popular formats. What's more, it is very easy to use.
Its interface is quite simple, and leaves no room for doubts on what to do next, at least for those users with some experience in format conversions. You will find two ways to create your list of files to convert. In this regard, you can simply drag and drop them onto the list area or use the Browse button to find and add them. Then, you will need to select a target format. At this point, you can select one of the output formats, such as AVI, DVD, FLV, MKV, MOV, MP3, MP4, MPG, WMV, WEBM, 3GP, among others, and you can also specify additional parameters by selecting one of the conversion profiles available for each format. Unfortunately, these profiles are not identified by the names of the supporting devices, a practice adopted by other developers, which eases the profile selection step a great deal. Luckily, advanced users will be able to create customized profiles according to their exact needs. After this step, you can select an output folder and start to convert.
In general terms, FVD Converter is a fine application that can successfully convert media. Sadly, though, I could not find any of the simple editing functions available in other programs of the same type; as it does not allow previewing, cropping or cutting video, letting alone other more sophisticated features.
